Treml’s Sawmill

The sawmill was founded before the year 1840 as part of the timber village Knížecí Pláně, close to Červený potok. It was founded by Prince Felix Schwarzenberg for the purpose of logging in the Šumava forests. A lumber jack named Treml was among the first residents. The village, as well as the sawmill, started to decline under the Communist regime and were later razed to the ground. The only building that was preserved was a former hayloft.
