Two deportation batches, labelled Ci and Ch, left Hradec Králové during World War II. A total of 1,200 people from the city and its vicinity were deported. Just 99 of them lived to see the liberation. The assembly point in Hradec Králové was set up in the former business high school at Náměstí svobody 2, which is part of the University of Hradec Králové today. It was built between 1896–1897 to the design of architect Hubert Gessner.
