My daddy died because of an informer
The father of Blažena Baborová, Jan Anděl, fought in World War II in the Czechoslovak Army in France and Great Britain. In 1945, he became the caretaker of a hotel in Františkovy Lázně. After 1948, because he could not accept the Communist victory he became involved with smuggling people across the border into Germany. Eventually, he too decided to emigrate with his family. On April 11, 1948, he set off to take a large group of his friends and family across the border. The fugitives met at the Labutí jezero Lake in Františkovy Lázně around 10 o’clock at night, and proceeded along the Jadran swimming pool through the forest between the ponds. When they came out of the forest, they were supposed to cross the road leading around the village of Libá and pass into Germany. However, somebody had informed state security of their escape plan. Members of the National Security Corps were already waiting for the fugitives at the border. Jan Anděl was shot and killed after getting into a conflict with one of the border guards.
